With high school graduation season in full-swing and students getting ready to go off to college, remember that once your child is over 18 years old, you can no longer act on their behalf, even if you are a parent, without a power of attorney. To avoid the heart-wrenching circumstance when your child may need someone to make a medical decision on their behalf, we recommend your student(s) go off to school with both medical and healthcare powers of attorney and can work with you to have these ready for your child’s departure at the end of the summer.
